Dunpuffin Railway Cottages

The Story of " Woodchester "

Woodchester started life in the early 1960's as a Kirbys Furniture truck in Nelson.  in the late 1980's it was converted into a horse truck by a sadly departed best friend of ours. After many years of faithful horse transport, he had sold it to a local truck wrecker about the year 2011
As our daughter, a teenager in the mid 1990's was into horse eventing, John kindly took her horse "Woodchester " down to Kurow.  We being supportive parents followed along. It was life on the move.

Dunpuffin Cottages Expands

With the  success and growth of Dunpuffin Cottages we decided another cottage for accommodation was needed. So looking on Trademe for ideas and a suitable project, I came across this very same truck. The truck ... minus the motor and gear box, what a find!
The truck wrecker had used it as a lockup on his remote Nelson farm and having sold his bit of dirt decided to move the "Woodchester" transporter/lockup on.

You guessed the rest.

The motor may be gone
The gearbox may be missing
The horse may not be here

But "Woodchester" is at home and lives on at Dunpuffin Railway Cottage accommodation.

That is the Story of " Woodchester "
